hi!

i'm network administrator in a french college and i have a problem with AB tutor.

i have 400 laptop on 4 differents vlan with different subnet and 100 pc on another subnet like that :

laptop vlan1 >> 172.28.98.*
laptop vlan2 >> 172.28.99.*
laptop vlan3 >> 172.28.100.*
laptop vlan4 >> 172.28.101.*

pc >> 172.28.96.*

the master is installed on my PC with an ip on 172.28.96.*

When i launch the research fonction AB tutor only found client wich are on PC ( only the client with 172.28.96.* IP).

is there any solution to solve that ?
i try to increase the subnet to scan in the options but that not solve my problem.

somebosy have an idea ?

thx for all

Do you have multiple virtual network adapters installed on your master computer to allow you to connect to each VLAN? If so, I think ABTC should ask you which network adapter you wish to use.

Had the same problem here. If I remember correctly, I was told that ABTC uses a 'multicast' to look for machines w/ the client software. Your network must be configured to allow multicast traffic pass thru to different vlans. The downside to setting it up that way is fas greater network traffic all of the time. We ended up putting the control software onto a PC on the same VLAN as all of the machines. It wa not worth the extra traffic overhead to allow communications across vlans.

saludos
