Just had a strange problem with my terminal server.

Since updating from 5.6 to 6, terminal services (1 server) have been intermittently problematic - mostly with users logging in and not having the hourglass dissappear, being unable to open the start menu etc (although firefox could be run by clicking a link in the papercut applet that did load).

Today I noticed that I was unavble to rdp log in successfully on the admin console (screen 0) on the terminal server, although I was able to rdp log in with the account on a different console. On login it would hang on the hourglass, display two unnamed applications as not responding and not let me do anything (including kill the applications from Task Manager).

Several reboots did not fix.

After a lot of fiddling about, I discovered that uninstalling the ab tutor client fixed the issue immediately.

Reinstalling the client has not yet caused the issue to return.

The client on this station was updated from the tutor control application and connecting to watch sessions worked.

Odd huh? Posted in case anyone finds the information useful. Will update if problems return (server is not under load atm).
