Does AB Tutor support installation on a Win2003 Server?
Does anyone know the reason for the following error message tha appears on a Win2003 Server install:
Unable to bind listening socket: an attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permisions.
This error message is a known problem and we are working on a solution. It only happens on Windows Server 2003 machines running the Tutor Control program.
There is a work around and it is to install and start the ABClient program on the Windows 2003 machine as well.
Then, when you launch the Tutor Control program it will warn you that the Client program is running and can cause a problem when Scanning for clients. When this message appears, select NO to NOT stop the client program. The Tutor Control program will scan the network to find the clients and should find them OK.
You will get a warning message in the output window indicating that the Tutor Control program will not be able to 'Listen' for Clients. This is a new feature we added recently that allows the Tutor Control program to 'pickup' Client machine that are switch On without the need to press the 'Find' button again.
We hope to find a solution to this problem as soon as possible.
