lose policies when pupil restarts computer

I have policy set to block the internet but the pupils have found if they switch off the computer or restart then the policy is no longer set.

Am I missing something

Have you setup the policy as temporary? If so, the policy lasts for the duration of the user's session, from the point you apply the policy until the user logs off. Closing the ABTutor would clear temporary policies on the clients too.

You could set the policy to be permanent. That way the policy applies until you clear it from the client(s).
