|
|
Not sure if anyone has found this, but there seems to be some sort of bug with AB tutor web blocking policies causes Active Directory Group Policies to sometimes fail.
Our clients are all XP on a Windows 2008 R2 domain.
A typical ICT suite has 25 computers.
If we apply a web blocking policy (block all internet access or block all websites, except selected) then when a student (with a mandatory roaming profile) logs in, on random computers the AD group policy will fail (eg, printers not mapped, drives not mapped, desktop wallpaper not set, etc).
Log off will also hang during execution of vbscript logoff file).
Any other ABTutor policies seem to not cause this issue.
Has anyone else found this? |

Hi Richie,
I believe we experience this issue too. I agree that it seems to be caused by the block website policy. We recently started using it here to block Youtube and have all kinds of issues regarding network access. Seems like the policy blocks network traffic it shouldnt. |

Hi
We've found and fixed a problem with our web filtering functions clashing with third-party web filters/firewalls (e.g. Sophos Web Intelligence etc) that was solved in version 6.6.3. Please make sure you have this version install on all your remote client machines. btw: We still have possible problem with a clash with the Microsoft ISA Client filter. We will be issuing an update when this has been resolved. |

We are still experiencing this issue.
Clients and tutor PCs all have 6.6.3.
If a Block Web Access (with exclusions) policy is applied prior to login (or PCs rebooted) SOME (but not all and not the same) xp clients fail to get group policy applied.
This is an issue I can replicate (but, as already stated, it doesn't always affect the same computers).
I am presuming that the policy is blocking certain aspects of gpo network traffic, but not all the time.
I have found on some of the affected computers that when they log off they seem to stick on "Running Log Off Scripts", so I'm presuming that whatever is blocking the GPOs is also causing some other network issues.
This problem is ONLY experienced by the ABTutor clients and ONLY when a Web Blocking Policy is applied - and, to repeat - not EVERY computer is affected.
It is very odd and I can't seem to get to the bottom of it |
