We are using Policies for logging access to the computers, and for blocking internet access from the computers, but I am looking for a way to stop printing from ABTutor control.
Is there a way that I can do ths? |

| Blocking the ability to print would surely keep us coming back to ABConsulting for more! Printing is a huge issue for us. We have over 2500 computers and almost 300 networked printers here in our school and students are printing at random. |

At present, where a teacher wants greater control over printing, we give them Manage Printer permissions on the shared printer on the server, to allow them to pause/unpause the queue as required.
Perhaps the request could be implemented by introducing a service control policy type, which would allow a policy to start, pause or stop a windows service. I imagine this would then allow you to create a policy which stops the spooler service on the clients. |

I find it amazing that on a network of 2500 clients with 300 printers that you havent got print management software installed to allocate print credits to users and create policies for printers! wouldnt it be a better idea to try and account for the thousands of pounds per annum your spending on consumables and clawing it back from the users. Its works really well for us, the cost of printing at my school almost pays for itself! |
