The dreams of an existing user ...

Scenario: School environment with approx 250+ computers with AB Tutor installed accross the staff and students network.

We are currently unwilling to install the AB Tutor Control onto the teachers machines as it opens to many issues.

We require a third level profile between the contoller and client that allows a teacher to monitor the machines to either a localised classroom or an alternate option is to monitor a range of selected student computers across multiple locations (especially when a class is seperated to different rooms).

Ideally the access and monitoring would be time based for a teacher - where they can monitor computers based on a students username and during the classtime only. It would mean having a login feature for the supervisor role to picks up the teachers subject allocation and the students who are within their class.

In terms of adaptability I'm sure all existing users of AB Tutor would be interested in having this additional third role.

ps I would view the supervisor application would be rolled out across the staff computers. Again ideally the price would be a site licence or atleast a per user on a greatly reduced price from the controller.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Why not just set up the client to scan for computers only in that particular room?

You need to set Administrator and Teacher Passwords for that to work. As well as having one group.

I currently work around the problem of teachers browsing to the wrong classroom (group) by using a launcher vbscript. The script gets the OU that the computer is in (eg Room A1), then passes this to the ABControl as a group name (-g Room A1), so the tutor is automatically launched in the correct group. Of course this doesn't prevent teachers from clicking Find and browsing around other groups.

Maybe a command line switch to disable the Find buttom for ordinary users? Don't know whether this would be useful for many?
