I have recently upgraded to v5 and have nothing but problmes with it. Where it wont find machines, locks machines then wont unlock it (ive got one machine that has been locked for about 4 days and wont unlock - i think i am going to have to rebuild it to fix!). Also the shutdown feature now dosent work properly on machines that did before.
Is there a way to roll back the clients to v4.5? the Admin machines i can easily do myself but i dont fancy going round 150 machines to uninstall/reinstall the client version! |

| Can't help you much on the issue, but to avoid rebuilding you could boot the system in safe mode and deal with the problem from there |

Yesterday I too installed version 5. I have had nothing but problems. Slow logons, freezing machines, disconnecting. I sent a command from the tutor machine to de-install the clients. Then i went to the clients and found they hadnt uninstalled fully. So I uninstalled from Add/Remove programs. Upon reboot no machines can find an IP address from the DHCP server. To solve this I have had to use system restore on the machines. I am very disappointed as I have never had a problem before, and now am lumbered with a load of work to sort it out. I too shall be sticking to version 4.5 and would like to know a quick way of rolling back clients.
Also I use a program called Browse Control to turn internet access on or off. Since the upgrade this no longer works. I have tracked it down to the Logging policy I had set on the machines, this worked fine in version 4.5. |

Sorry about the problems you are having. I believe the main cause if your problems are to do with BrowseControl.
Version 5 uses the same method to block/monitor network traffic as BrowseControl.
Another school reported problems and they contacted BrowseControl who apparently have investigated the conflict and issued a patch. After applying the patch they did not have any further network problems.
I will contact BrowseControl to get details of the patch and version information.

| We have had some problems with V5 as well. It doesn't seem to clear policies properly when I tell it to. I use it to switch the intrenet on and off. Clearig all policies - including the log - and seems to work. We don't use Browse Control. |

I'm also having policy problems, although it does seem intermittent. Things have improved since first installed, but when we apply certain (unrelated) policies, such as application blocking, the internet is blocked completely. Am having difficulties in reproducing the problem.
we did have a problem where the log policy would block internet access, updating to the latest version (I think it was 5.0.10) seemed to fix that specific issue. |

One problem I have been having is that when I try to launch a file on the students' machines it will launch if the student's machine is running 4.5 but will not if it is running V5. It will launch programmes
